Happy Tooth Day
Lately it’s been Jacob getting all the Tooth Attention, especially considering the fact that he lost 3 teeth within 2 wks recently and two of those teeth were lost in the same day! Well, yesterday was a different kind of Tooth Day for us.
Yesterday, Joseph actually lost a tooth. He’s nine years old and doesn’t have many more to go, so this was a bit of a surprise. He pulled it out in California during his visit with Grandpa and Grandy. Since he is over his 6 year old snaggle-tooth stage, it took me back and made me realize that although he is growing up fast, he is still (for a little while longer) my little boy. I cherish the fact that he wants to bring it home to show us and that he will put it under his pillow.
What made the day an odd Tooth Day, however, is the fact that while Joseph was losing one of his last baby teeth, Abraham was cutting his 1st. He had fever for 2 days and fussed all night for 2 nights. Finally, the little peg popped through. It was a reminder that we are beginning the whole Tooth Journey all over again. Ah, the joys of teething. The good news is that now every bad mood and inappropriate attitude that he has for the next two years can be blamed on this process
.
So, my oldest boy lost what could be his last baby tooth, and my youngest boy gained his first. A weird and wonderful Tooth Day indeed.
